Here is a partial list of ways we’ve assisted ESL learners who have successfully completed the program.
SCHOOL ENROLLMENT
We assisted a San Carlos mother in completing the paperwork to enroll her son in school and then guided her through the process of joining that school's community.
Housing disputes
We have helped people resolve housing disputes. We are not attorneys, but we help people with their leases.
MINOR MATTER SUPPORT
We accompanied a student to a courtroom to provide support on a minor matter. We did not act as attorneys; we were there for support.
exam preparation
We have helped a student from South America prepare for the test she needed to take to become a registered nurse in the United States. We are not nursing experts, but we were able to help her understand the questions and vocabulary.
immigration interviews
We have helped several people prepare for their US immigration interviews. We are not immigration experts, but we understand the questions and answers that are asked during that interview. We help people understand the questions so that they can pass the test. So far, we have had a 100% success rate.
PRESENTING WITH CONFIDENCE
We have helped a Stanford biology researcher prepare for a presentation. Although we were not familiar with the details of biology, we were able to help her prepare to speak confidently when she presented to a group of other scientists.
CAREER COACHING
We coach individuals who are unsure of how to secure a better job. We help them write resumes, identify job fairs, and practice interviews.
COLLEGE APPLICATIONS
We have helped students apply to adult ESL schools and local colleges and supported them during their graduation exercises.
PRESENTATIOn pREPARATION
We have helped students prepare presentations for their college ESL classes.
conversation classes
We lead conversation classes at local adult schools and encourage our students to participate in those classes.
MEDICAL SUPPORT
